Size Guide
Choosing the right size can be tricky, especially when shopping online. This guide will help you understand how to measure yourself, interpret the size charts provided on our product pages, and make informed decisions to ensure a great fit.
Understanding Our Size Options
At Mimostreet, we primarily use standard letter sizing (XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL) across our collections. While we strive for consistency, fit can vary slightly between different styles, fabrics, and garment types. Always check the specific size guide on the product page for the most accurate measurements.
How to Measure Yourself
Before selecting a size, take a few minutes to measure your body. You will need a soft measuring tape. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and ensure it is level around your body. Measure over undergarments you plan to wear with the item.
Key Body Measurements
- Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
- Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waistline, typically just above your belly button.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, usually about 8 inches below your waist.
- Length: For dresses and skirts, you may need to know the garment length. Check the product page for specific length measurements from the shoulder or waist to the hem.
Interpreting Product Size Charts
Each product page includes a detailed size chart with measurements in inches. These charts show the finished garment measurements or the body measurements the garment is designed to fit. Please read the chart headers carefully to understand which is provided.
Body Measurements vs. Garment Measurements
- Body Measurements: The size chart lists the body dimensions that the garment is designed to accommodate. Your body measurements should match or be very close to these numbers.
- Garment Measurements: The size chart lists the actual dimensions of the item itself. In this case, your body measurements should be smaller than the garment measurements to allow for ease of movement and fit.
For example, if a dress has a bust measurement of 36 inches in the size chart, and it is a body measurement chart, you should have a bust close to 36 inches. If it is a garment measurement chart, you might need a bust measurement of around 34-35 inches to allow for ease.
Tips for Finding Your Best Fit
- Check the Fabric: Stretchy fabrics (like jersey or knits) may offer more flexibility, while non-stretch woven fabrics require a more precise match to the size chart.
- Consider the Style: Relaxed or oversized fits will have more ease built into the design, while fitted styles will hug the body more closely.
- When in Doubt, Size Up: If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit, especially for fitted garments or non-stretch fabrics. However, always check the specific product description for fit notes.
- Read Product Descriptions: Look for notes about fit, such as "true to size," "runs small," or "relaxed fit," which can provide additional context.
