Care Guide

Every Mimostreet piece is designed with distinct fabrics, embellishments, and construction details. Because care requirements vary from item to item, always check the care label sewn into the garment or the specific instructions listed on the product page before cleaning. The guidance below covers general maintenance for the lightweight woven fabrics, satin-style finishes, crochet, fringe, beadwork, and metal hardware commonly found in our collections.

Before You Clean: Check Your Garment

Look for a sewn-in care tag inside the garment. If the tag is missing or unclear, refer to the product page description or contact us before attempting any cleaning method. Some items in our collection include specific care notes directly in their product descriptions, such as hand-wash-only instructions for crochet pieces or dry-clean recommendations for heavily embellished dresses.

Spot Cleaning and Freshening Between Wears

For most of our lightweight tops, dresses, and skirts, full washing after every wear is unnecessary. After wearing, hang the item in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to allow odors to dissipate and moisture to evaporate.

If you notice a small stain or spill:

  • Blot gently with a clean, dry white cloth. Do not rub, as friction can push the stain deeper into the fibers or damage surface finishes.
  • Dab the area with a cloth lightly dampened with cold water. Test on a hidden seam first if the fabric has a sheen, print, or embellishment.
  • Let the area air-dry completely before storing or wearing again.

If the stain persists, the fabric is delicate, or the item has beadwork, sequins, fringe, or metal hardware, stop and seek professional cleaning rather than escalating with stronger solvents at home.

Caring for Special Details

Our collections often feature construction elements that need extra attention:

Beadwork and Sequins: Avoid snagging against rough surfaces, bags, or jewelry. When handling beaded pieces, support the garment from underneath rather than pulling by the straps or fringe. Do not iron directly over beads or sequins.

Fringe and Crochet: Fringe can tangle or mat if compressed. After wearing, gently shake out fringe strands and allow the piece to hang so fringe falls naturally. Crochet items are more prone to snagging on sharp edges or loose threads; inspect periodically and trim any pulled loops carefully with small scissors if you are comfortable doing so, or bring the item to a professional for repair.

Metal Hardware and Belts: Keep metal accents away from prolonged moisture and harsh chemicals. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth after wear to remove oils and prevent dulling. If a metal belt is removable, detach it before any cleaning process.

Satin-Style and Fluid Fabrics: These materials can show water marks or heat damage more easily. Avoid spraying perfume or deodorant directly onto the fabric, and keep away from hot surfaces.

Storing Your Pieces

Proper storage protects shape, finish, and delicate details.

  • Hang tops, dresses, and skirts on padded or smooth hangers to prevent shoulder marks and fabric slippage.
  • For items with heavy embellishment or fringe, consider storing flat in a breathable garment bag or folded loosely in a drawer with tissue paper to reduce stress on straps and beadwork.
  • Keep stored garments away from direct sunlight to help preserve color vibrancy.
  • Ensure items are completely dry before placing them in enclosed storage to prevent moisture buildup.

When to Seek Professional Help

Bring an item to a trusted professional cleaner if:

  • The care label specifies dry clean only.
  • The garment has extensive beading, sequins, embroidery, or layered fabric that you are unsure how to handle.
  • A stain does not lift with gentle cold-water blotting.
  • Hardware, crochet, or fringe requires repair or reattachment.

Communicate the garment's construction details to the cleaner so they can select appropriate solvents and handling methods.
